PROFILE
Cuban-born state-inducted Yoly Muñoz started exploring the world of haute couture at a very early age, following her mother throughout the streets of 1950’s Havana, Cuba in search of new and extraordinary fabrics fresh from the local fabric mills and shipping docks. Attention to detail, delight in the splendor of her surroundings and a perpetually probing mind led her to follow in the footsteps of her mother who paved the way to design; yet she asserted her own style and has made a name for herself internationally. Eventually she made her way to the Miami area to grace runways, boutiques and feminine forms everywhere with her gift of the ultimate haute couture gown.
Yoly left Cuba at the tender age of 15 and moved to New York City with her family to escape into the city’s fashion school of hard knocks. She attended high school and college there, but her tenacity and drive led her down the path of self-reliance and self-teaching with regard to the world around her. Her mother, however, did influence Yoly in the basics of kinetic construction of structure and material in design which provided her the platform to springboard her personal style of creation.
In 1977, while dreaming to see her designs adorn storefront windows, she landed her first boutique around her local neighborhood in Miami. Now, 30 years since she first opened her doors, Yoly invites you to visit her flagship store in Coconut Grove and couture salon in Palm Beach, Florida. In 1991, Yoly opened her own showroom in Manhattan’s Garment District, which currently serves specialty stores nationwide, and Canada.
Yoly Muñoz’s showrooms continue to grow and flourish in New York, Miami and Palm Beach. Muñoz’s goals are to market herself on a broader international scale Europe and Middle East as well as to fashion each season’s line better than the last. Her hard work over the past three decades has presented her the opportunity to dress such clients as Marla and Tiffany Trump, Aretha Franklin, and the Saudi Arabian Royal family, and has placed her in such publications as Women’s Wear Daily, Florida International Magazine, Vogue and Bazaar.
